Born and raised in Atlanta Georgia, Harvey Jones grew up around racing, working at his dad’s downtown “Jones Armature Works.” Leaving the driving for others. He began building cars from 1945 for Fonty Flock and ended his career in 1973 with Georgia/racing legend Ronnie Sanders. In between, were drivers, Billy Carden, Jack Smith, Gober Sosebee, Ed Samples, T.C. Hunt, Curtis Turner, Johnny Suddeth, Bruce Brantley, Russell Nelson, and many others Harvey Jones advancement of these distinguished careers reads as a list of, “Who’s Who,” in stock car racing.

• 1945 – Won first race as a car owner with Fonty Flock driving at Thomaston, Ga.
• 1946 – National Stock Car Championship Chief Mechanic for Ed Samples
• 1949 – National Modified Car Championship Chief Mechanic for Ed Samples.
• 1951 – National Modified Car Championship Chief Mechanic for Jack Smith.
• 1954 – 1973 More winning engines than any other builder in the United States.
• Noted by Atlanta Constitution Sports Writer Rick Minter as, “one of the best and most underrated mechanics in racing history.”
