Ed Massey – The Late Ed “Candy” Massey was one of the leading car owners, mechanics and promoters on the Georgia short track scene.  He started his career in 1953 as owner and crew chief for several eventual members of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame including his brother-in-law Leon Sells.

He had a similar relationship with his son Stan Massey, Charlie Mincey and Buck Simmons, all of whom went on to be inducted into the Georgia hall.  They won numerous races and track championships on both dirt and asphalt tracks around north Georgia including Dixie Speedway, Rome Speedway, Senoia Raceway, Coweta Raceway and West Atlanta Raceway.  He also helped others with car setups and was inducted into the NDRA Mechanic Hall of Fame in 1984.

Massey was a track promoter at Senoia Raceway and for years owned and promoted races at West Atlanta Raceway which later became Seven Flags Speedway.
