
George Bryce – Americus, GA – Better known in the motorcycle drag racing world as “GB3,” Gerald Bryce was a well-known man around the community. Racing in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle series and garnering countless wins and championships in the motorcycle drag racing circuit throughout his career as driver, owner and even crew chief/tuner, Bryce was well-respected amongst his peers.
In the town of Americus, GA, George and his wife Jackie founded Star Racing in 1980, a race shop (truly a premiere motorcycle racing and R&D facility) that is now complete with engine building, machine shop services, four dynos, a Spintron, CNC machines as well as a retail parts supplier. Star Racing was and still is vital in supporting the motorcycle drag-racing community.
Throughout his career in the drag racing world, Bryce went on to win 6 NHRA National Championships, 81 event wins as either rider, owner or crew chief/tuner in 159 final rounds of competition. He became a huge success and a true contender in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle series before retiring from the NHRA series in 2016.
His prodigy, and the most victorious female in NHRA history, was Angelle Sampey with her 41 national event wins over her career with Bryce as her mentor. There were many similar experiences with close a dozen other riders utilizing the knowledge Byrce gleaned by being a rider, an owner and a crew chief throughout his career.
Bryce was also one of the head instructors of the motorcycle program at Frank Hawley’s Drag Racing School for over 20 years now. He assists in training new riders and helping them develop their full potential and skill sets to become more competitive professional riders.
Not only was motorcycle drag racing a love of Bryce’s, but he also took on the challenge of drag racing on four wheels, racing nitrous cars, Pro Mods & as well as a ’66 Chevelle amassing over 80 NHRA Wally trophies as well.
