Jabez Jones began building race cars in 1953, and his career spanned some 30 years, with more than 350 career wins as a driver and owner. He owned cars driven by Sam Sosebee, T.C. Hunt and his son, Jabe Jones. Among his driving accomplishments, he won 17 straight events at Athens Speedway in 1970 and 14 straight at Anderson Speedway in 1971. He also won the Sportsman Award at Anderson Speedway in 1971.
He was one of the original organizers of Georgia-Carolina No. 1 Racing Association in 1973, and competed at tracks in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.
