Bob Burcham of Rossville, Georgia, won events throughout the southeast, winning many times on the NASCAR Sportsman circuit, as well as making several starts on what is now the NASCAR Sprint Cup tour. His best finish in that division was a fourth at Nashville in 1974.
“Bullet” Bob won 28 of 30 feature events at Boyd’s Speedway in 1962, and was the 1963 champion in NASCAR’s short lived “Modified-Special” division. Burcham raced several times at Daytona in the modified division, and in 196, he won four of six events in a row at Middle Georgia Raceway in Byron, Georgia.
Burcham was also a frequent competitor at Nashville, picking up a victory in the famed Flameless 300 in 1969.
Burcham passed away on April 10 of this year.
